TOTO® LATERAL TURNING SYSTEM
The Problem
The Toto Platform was a bulky and heavy product weighing 20Kg, making it difficult for medical practitioners to transport and install. It was unable to contour to many hospital beds and was expensive to produce.
The Solution
I redesigned the platform from the ground up, creating a series of triangular air pockets that cut the weight down to 3kg, used less plastic and also allowed the product to contour to any surface. As a bonus, the product could now also be rolled up, making it much less bulky for practitioners to carry and suppliers to ship.
The Toto automated lateral turning system, enables patient-prescribed lateral turning intervals. Toto offers consistent and controlled patient turning, in a lightweight, easy to use and set-up format.
The pre-existing Toto platform was comprised of large heavy plastic board that could only hinge at fixed points. I redesigned the product from the ground up to ensure that we created something that was lightweight, portable, able to contour on any profiling medical bed and most importantly, provide effective pressure relief to it's user.
